The gangDeath Guard are my favorite! Maybe not just because they’re my oldest and I think most extensive collection. The grimy industiral look is what DiY wargaming, and presently stop motion, is all about for me. They were the first warhammer models I had, from the 8th Edition (Dark Imperium) starter set.

1. This one’s really more of a paint test, trying out different colors.

3. “by the book” warhammer paint schemes go for a very “clean” look, which I was following in for this model. As we go forward I start figuring out grime and rust.

15. I remember I had some high school project that involved me documenting the steps of building and painting specifically this model. I also remember that the stats for this guy in Kill Team were absolutley insane, like rediculously busted for this one and the one(s) with the flail.

17. I got this model in a blind box at Jupiter Games, which was the greatest game store ever (in my humble opinion) before they closed down a while back. :(

19. Poxwalker time! The box set I got came with 20 poxwalkers, 2 each of 10 unique sculpts. The left batch (beige colored) I did first, painting them one at a time. The jaundiced right batch I did in one big batch, assembly-line style, a few years later (summer of 2021 if memory serves).

*31. Lord of Contagion. This is one of my favorite paint jobs (I say this about basically all my models) and it showcases every mini-painting technique I had learned up to this point. Please appreciate the rust and staining on the armor.

35. This model and the one after are actually 3d printed! Though the plague drone in the previous image is authentic. Instead of spending about 100 dollars on these two models, I spent probably 5 dollars on printer resin >:) Sometimes we get a bit scammy…
